Ingredients
- 2 (14.5-ounce) cans French-style green beans, drained
- 1 (10.5-ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
- ½ cup milk
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 ½ cups French fried onions, divided
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (optional)
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder (optional, for extra flavor)
Directions
- Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 2-quart casserole dish. - Mix the Sauce:
In a large mixing bowl, stir together the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, black pepper, and garlic powder (if using) until well combined. - Add the Beans and Onions:
Stir in the drained French-style green beans and ¾ cup of the French fried onions. Add shredded cheddar cheese if desired. Mix gently until all ingredients are evenly coated. - Bake the Casserole:
Pour the mixture into the prepared casserole dish and spread evenly. Bake uncovered for 25 minutes or until the casserole is hot and bubbly around the edges. - Add the Topping:
Sprinkle the remaining ¾ cup French fried onions evenly over the top. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown. - Serve:
Let the casserole cool slightly before serving. Serve warm as a comforting side dish for holiday dinners or weeknight meals.
Chef’s Tip:
For extra richness, add a handful of crispy turkey bacon crumbles or sautéed mushrooms before baking. You can also substitute cream of chicken soup for a slightly different flavor.
