Cranberry Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 cups fresh or frozen cranberries (about 12 ounces)
  • 1 strip orange zest (optional)
  • 1 cinnamon stick (optional)

Directions

  1. Combine sugar and water in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Add cranberries, return mixture to a boil, and reduce heat to simmer.
  3. Add orange zest and cinnamon stick if using.
  4. Simmer until most of the cranberries burst and the sauce begins to thicken, about 10 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and allow sauce to cool to room temperature.
  6. Remove cinnamon stick and orange zest before serving.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours for best flavor. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
