Ingredients
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup water
- 4 cups fresh or frozen cranberries (about 12 ounces)
- 1 strip orange zest (optional)
- 1 cinnamon stick (optional)
Directions
- Combine sugar and water in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Add cranberries, return mixture to a boil, and reduce heat to simmer.
- Add orange zest and cinnamon stick if using.
- Simmer until most of the cranberries burst and the sauce begins to thicken, about 10 minutes.
- Remove from heat and allow sauce to cool to room temperature.
- Remove cinnamon stick and orange zest before serving.
- Refrigerate for at least 2 hours for best flavor. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
